March 1998 |
I'm not quite sure what happened just then. My space was
starting to get pretty cramped, and I could feel something pushing me. This went on for a
while, and then my heart started to beat faster. Next thing I know someone's stuck a
plunger on my head and is pulling me out! I'm going to talk to my lawyer about this.
It was kinda bright where they put me, but then they lay me on Mummy, so that was OK. And
they wiped me off, and checked me over, and then they gave me to Daddy and he gave me a
cuddle. I hope he didn't mind the fact that I was purple all over. I really must talk to
someone about that.
I tried to have some milk from Mummy's breast, but it didn't seem to be working. There was
lots of other stuff going on, and everyone seemed to want to look at me. I'm not to sure
about this outside world thing, but I guess I'll give it a go before I give up on it. |

Hah! And they were worried that I was going to come out
today! Would I do that to them? This is a picture of me falling asleep on Daddy. He seems
OK, he's got the nappy thing figured out which is important. I met Grandma McMillan today.
She likes the fact that my hair is red like hers. I don't know what she's talking about -
her hair is grey all over!
Mummy seems to have recovered a bit from yesterday, which is good. Lots of hospital people
came in today and poked me and prodded me and did all sorts of tests. I hope I passed... |

I
still can't get to feed properly. Jill the food expert said that it's because my tongue is
tied, and they need to clip it. I'm not sure I like the sound of that. I wonder if it will
hurt?. Mummy is expressing milk as much as she can, but they also gave me some formula.
That was OK, but it's not really the best stuff, y'know? I wonder if one of these vending
machines will have any? |

Today someone came along and clipped my tongue. Wow! It
didn't hurt, and look how far I can poke my tongue out at Daddy now! I tried to get some
food, but it just didn't feel right y'know? They also took me way down a long corridor and
stuck gel on me and did something with a machine. I'm not quite sure what it was about,
but it was cold so I had a bit of a cry to let Mom and Dad know I wasn't happy with the
quality of service they were providing. They didn't stop it though, yet they seem relieved
when a man came to talk to them about it. Daddy said that another Grandma is coming down
to visit for the weekend and see me. How many 'Grandmothers' gets assigned to each baby
anyhow? |

This new Grandma is pretty cool. She brought lots of
pressies for me, including this cool bear which makes noises when you push buttons which
Daddy really liked. They've started feeding me milk by putting their fingers in my mouth
with a little tube down the side to try and hide the tube. Little do they know that I
actually really like the stuff out of that tube. We'll see how long we can con them for.
Grandma also bought this high-fangled video machine, and Daddy insisted on sticking it in
my face and taking lots of pictures of me. I let it slide on the understanding that I get
a full cut of all box office takings. |

Today Mummy and Daddy took me home. They dressed me up in
this really snazzy outfit and packed up all the stuff and we went for a ride in a taxi. I
wanted to ride shotgun, but they insisted in putting me in this seat where I couldn't see
a thing. The new home is kinda cool - it's not pink and blue like the hospital, and
they've stopped making me wear all white too! I showed my appreciation by giving Mummy a
double nappy poo, which she seemed to appreciate, and then I dropped off to sleep so that
they could clean up and stuff.
A bit later on Granddad arrived for a quick overnight visit. He seemed kinda tired, so I
curled up and fell asleep in his arms, and then weed on him. He only had one set of
clothes too! That'll teach him. |

Wow, what a night! Just to
prove to Daddy what Mummy had been going through while she was in hospital, I woke up
three times during the night. They seemed pretty good about it, but I wonder how they'll
be in a couple of weeks?
In the afternoon they took me out for my first day. We went down to the office to see
Donna, but she wasn't there. So we went shopping and bought more baby stuff. Then they
started to arrange for something called a "move". I'm not sure what that
involves, but I wonder if I can help? |

What a big
day! Mummy and Daddy were up early, and Paula came to see me! She wasn't very nice, cuz
she put a nappy around me and then instead of cuddling me like you're s'posed to, she
dangled me from a weighing thing. Oh well, I guess I'll forgive her since she helped Mummy
and Daddy have me. The rest of the day (while I wasn't sleeping) Mummy and Daddy and a
bunch of other people were moving house - into the great new home all the way up the hill.
And I've got my own room, all of my own! It's very sunny. Mummy and Daddy looked pretty
tired, so I was good for them and slept lots and let them get on with this 'moving' stuff.

Things are starting to settle down
after the move. Mummy and Daddy put me back on washable nappies. Personally I don't see
what the difference is - they all end up pooed on one way or another. |

We went romping around town
today. Mummy and Daddy took me everywhere! We went and bought some new nappies, and this
big thing to dry them in. And we went to a cafe and to meet this big man at this computer
place. At the end of shoping for food I was woke u and needed a change and some
food, but by that time we were almost home, so it didn't matter. I was having a bit of a
grumpy evening, but I made up for it by only waking Mummy and Daddy once during the night. |

Today is Grandma's 50th birthday
party. She's having a big party, but it's too far for us to go in the pram. Mummy and
Daddy wouldn't let me drive up there either, so I just sent her an email. I hope it goes
OK. They've got video of me, so I guess they'll have to deal with that. |

Mummy and Daddy seem to be
settling down well to providing for my every need. I wake up, and one of them
attends to me. Then they put out washing, and I sleep for a bit. If they've got lectures
then they go to that, and the other one looks after me. I make sure to keep them really
busy while that's happening, just so they know that they need two people to look after me.
Then we alternate the afternoon with feeding, nappy changing, crying, and sleeping. Every
once in a while I stay awake and quiet and happy, just so they know that I can be like
that occasionally. I always demand to be fed around their dinner time, because I like to
be part of the family. Mummy generally gets tired from making milk and so goes to bed at
about 10 or 11, but Daddy stays up with me and we do stuff on the computer until the early
hours of the morning. Then we both go to bed. I wake them up a couple of times during the
night when I need food and my nappy changed. |

Today Mom and Dad were
eating Easter Eggs. They didn't offer me any, I'm not quite sure why. Not even any
chocolate breastmilk! Mom and I went for a walk up to the local shops to get some milk.
For some reaxson as soon as they put me in the frontpack or the pram I go to sleep. I'm
not quite sure what does that. |
