Wow, what a big day! Daddy took me
down into town, and then we went to the capping bed races and watched Daddy's team lose
pushing their bed. But they didn't seem to mind too much, as they took to throwing flower
and eggs at the other competitors. Then we went home and I had my last appointment with
Paula. I would have been sad to see her go, but she stuck a needle in me! Damn it hurt. So
I cried for a while to let Mum and Dad that I wasn't at all happy. But the pain went away.
A'how, I now weigh 11lb 6oz, and I'm 62.5 cm long. Which is pretty big. Any my head is big
as well - right at the top of the scale for my age group. |

Today
there were some more capping things going on. We went down to campus and watched people
eating chillis, and drinking this green stuff, and throwing this haggis thing. And then
Baxter and this bunch of other people wrestled in porridge. It was so gross. They wanted
Daddy to do it too, but he steadfastly refused. Then Mummy took me home and Daddy went to
the library to do some work on an essay for school. |

Today Mummy and Daddy got all
excited because I finally figured out why Mummy keeps putting me to her breast. That's
where the food comes from! Wow, and all this time I thought that it just came in bottles.
And in the evening Granddad looked after me and Mummy and Daddy went out for the first
time without me - they went to something called the capping show. Being with Granddad was
OK, I pretty much just fell asleep for the whole time. |

What an exciting day. Mummy and
Daddy took me on a march down into the Octagon about fees and allowances and stuff. It was
kinda exciting. There were lots of people there, and they were doing lots of yelling and
stuff too. I'm still working on this breast-feeding thing, but I think we're getting the
hang of it. |

Daddy is really busy - he's been
down at the library at the university today, and he's doing lots of reading and writing.
Mum said something about him doing an essay, and she's been looking after me for most of
the day. I wonder what it's all about? |

Daddy
has been busy all day, working on his essay. He finally took me down to the university
late in the afternoon and handed it in. I hope he gets a good mark. Wow, what a stressful
couple of days. Mummy looks so tired! |

I've had a really difficult day.
Yesterday I was just really hungry, and all I wanted was Mummy's milk. I think I got so
demanding that she got annoyed with me. But we sorted it all out. Mummy and Daddy think
I'm going through a growth spurt, which means that I want more milk. |

Another day, another dozen nappies. |

Today a plunket nurse came around to
see me. I dunno what happened to Paula, but I don't think I mind a new person too much, as
this one didn't stick needles in me. She checked me all out, and weighed me, and I came up
at 11lb 10oz. Which is pretty good I think. Granddad was around here in the evening using
Dad's computer, so I said hi to him and had a good cry to make him pick me up. |

Today Mummy and Daddy took me down
to campus and took me to something called an Education Campaign Meeting. I dunno too much
of what they were talking about, some protest about something. I sat there for a while,
and then I started to get that uncomfortable feeling in my nappies. But that was OK,
because then they took me to the movies, the first movies they've been to since I was
born. It was called the Wedding Singer. What I saw was OK, but I slept through most of it
on Mummy's breast. |

We went out to lunch with Granddad
at the Botanical Gardens today. And in the morning Daddy helped some other family with a
new baby move. |

Wow! Another big day. This
afternoon we went to a second reunion of the home birth class. And everyone had a baby.
There were six of us there, but I was the oldest by a few hours. And they put us all on
the floor for photos and we had lots of fun. I dunno what everyone else thought, but I'm
sure I'm the cutest. I was awake the most, that's for sure. How am I supposed to play with
these other babies if all they do is sleep, eat, and poo? When we got home after dinner,
Mummy and Daddy painted my feet and one of my hands just before my bath, and good prints.
They didn't turn out too bad did they? |

It's been quite a long day. For some reason
I need to be with Mummy almost all the time - nothing really keeps me happy unless I'm
with her, and normally feeding from her. Mummy and Daddy initially thought it was a growth
spurt, but it's been going on too long for that. |
